Seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady wants to be partially paid in crypto

The crypto industry continues to build ties to the sports industry, with the most recent move revolving around the legendary football player and a seven-time Super Bowl winner, Tom Brady. Brady has demonstrated his support of the industry in the past, but this time, he went a step further than ever before, saying that he would ‘love’ to see some of his earnings in BTC, ETH, or SOL tokens.

The Super Bowl champion revealed this in a recent interview with Jim Gray on his Let’s Go Sirius XM podcast. During the interview, Brady stated that he wants part of his salary to be paid in digital assets, rather than fiat currencies. Bitcoin and Ethereum are, of course, obvious choices, given that these are the two cryptocurrencies with the greatest market cap.

Tom Brady shows interest in Solana

His choice of Solana (SOL), on the other hand, is an interesting one. As many likely know, Solana has been one of the go-to protocols for those seeking alternatives to Ethereum, as it offers faster payments at cheaper prices, and more than decent development capabilities of its network. So, the fact that Brady showed interest in the project will likely further assist its price growth.

Brady, on his part, praised the underlying tech behind all three projects, saying that he believes that digital assets are the future, and predicting that more athletes will turn to crypto payments very soon.

“The digital age is upon us. I don’t think we’re ever going back,” he said, claiming that the new technology and information being used to track things works much better than previous solutions.

Brady is not the only one to receive his salary in the form of crypto. Professional football player Saquon Barkley said the same, opting to receive Bitcoin. As for Brady, his previous encounters with crypto included releasing his own NFT platform in April. After that, both he and his wife, Gisele Bundchen, took an equity stake in FTX — one of the most popular young digital asset trading platforms.
