NFTs (nonfungible tokens) are taking over the crypto space as 2021 comes to an end. The momentum for NFTs from businessmen and celebrities alike continues. On December 15, 2021, a venture capital company co-founded by NBA star Kevin Durant and sports manager Rich Kleiman, Thirty-Five Ventures, confirmed a business partnership with Coinbase.

Under this agreement, Thirty-Five Ventures will operate jointly with Coinbase to develop nonfungible token drops and storytelling content about NFTs and cryptocurrency and also showcase Coinbase’s recent growth in the industry. Based on the announcement, there will also be a significant philanthropic integration with the Kevin Durant Charity Foundation.

Coinbase is now the third-biggest centralized crypto exchange globally by trading volume. At the time of writing, there is a waitlist of more than 2.6 million users for Coinbase NFTs. The firm said that it is now designing a self-custody wallet for nonfungible token integration. By the end of 2021, it is estimated that the NFT sales will exceed $17 billion.

Rich Kleiman issued this statement about the partnership:

“Historically, the premium has meant brands that have been around forever, like Mercedes, Rolex, and American Express. But in five years, Coinbase has become representative of that era and is in line with our premium brand philosophy. And we’re getting into this formalized agreement with a company that is just scratching the surface on where it’s going.”
