ComplyAdvantage hires Mark Watson as CTO of financial crime detection firm

Financial crime detection specialist ComplyAdvantage has appointed Mark Watson as Chief Technology Officer, leading all engineering and technical innovation efforts including the expansion of the company’s proprietary knowledge graph called ComplyData.

ComplyData contextualises insights across the company’s award-winning Transaction Risk Management and KYB solution sets.

Tackling money-laundering and related financial crimes

Mark Watson joins ComplyAdvantage from WorldRemit, where he was Chief Technology Officer for nearly three years. WorldRemit is a digital payments service that provides international money transfer and remittance services in more than 130 countries and over 70 currencies.

According to his LinkedIn page, during his career, Watson co-founded and/or exited three companies across a range of B2B businesses including mobile apps, cloud, advanced analytics, systems management and customer experience management.

He was the CEO and Co-Founder of Skipjaq, while developing product architecture and raising round A funding from VCs, and was recruited by investors to turn around engineering at Causata, Inc., which subsequently launched a series of products based on machine learning and leading to company sale. He has also established market-leading product for mobile middleware while serving as CEO and CTO at Volantis Systems, Ltd., leading to sale of company.
