GameStop (GME), an American video game, consumer electronics, and gaming merchandise, has finally launched its non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace. The new public beta version marketplace will allow gamers, collectors, and creators to buy and sell NFTs.

In a July 11 press release, the gaming giant confirmed the successful launch of its non-fungible token (NFTs) marketplace. GME intends to compete with other giant marketplaces, such as OpenSea and Polygon, offering low NFT transaction fees, scalability, and high speeds.

The beta GME NFT marketplace will allow its users to buy and sell NFTs. It includes exclusive capabilities enabling users to view statistics for NFTs and other educational materials. Education material includes NFT utility and how to connect wallets to the new marketplace.

In that context, the new GME NFT marketplace is a non-custodial, Ethereum Layer 2-based application. The new NFT platform will allow users to connect using their GameStop wallets and other Ethereum-based wallets.

The American electronic retail firm hinted at plans to launch an NFT platform in February. At the time, GameStop confirmed the successful partnership with Immutable X to launch the NFT marketplace on the Ethereum-powered Loopring protocol.

Since then, Immutable X has inked several partnerships with notable Web3 gaming firms to create the NFT marketplace, including Illuvium, Gods Unchained, and Guild of Guardians.

In late May, GameStop announced the alpha launch of its NFT marketplace alongside a cryptocurrency wallet. At the time, the team behind the development noted that the GME NFT marketplace would be 100% carbon-neutral, with no gas fees.

The new public beta version displays NFTs and NFT creators on the dashboard. It also features a deeper analysis of the market through the explore interface. Remarkably, the NFT marketplace currently hosts more than 236 NFT collections.

Meanwhile, the newly launched NFT marketplace is a public beta of the GameStop application, and users should expect the official full version of the GME NFT marketplace in the future.
